The Return of Ohpenda.com

This year created one too many milestones for me since not only have I wrapped up my university education, vacayed sans parentals to a foreign land, aced my nursing boards, agonized over a job interview, landed a much coveted job--I am also on my way to composing my longest run-on sentence ever. To say that I've been busy would be an understatement. But despite that, I managed to make time to chew over whether or not I should keep this blog alive. Have you ever had those moments when your body is dead tired, but your brain just keeps going on and on and on...

(Just like this post. Why can't I get right to the point?)

Today I've decided to frustrate the world wide web by returning. Yes folks, unfortunately for the mighty lowcapped 'www', I'm back for another round. To be honest, I have little time to blog and compared to 2011 (my debut), blogging has gone down a few steps in my priorities list. However, there are several things that made me reconsider leaving the blogging community:

1. I've invested so much into growing this blog - I spent my own money for most of my reviews, time (even cut class just to go to events lol) and feelings (replying to comments made me giddy). Unknowingly, this blog has become my boyfriend (and that's probably why I don't have one).

2. Loyal readers - Cagayan de Oro has become more digitally empowered recently, hence the growth of the local blogging community. However, this rise of the number of emerging bloggers somehow threatens readership of dormant bloggers like myself. So it really cheered me on when my friend recently chatted me that her bosses decided where to eat based on a blog post I made some 2 years ago (and she didn't even tell them about me!). I'm figuratively crying because she said they trust my reviews (this means so much because you don't know the struggle of maintaining blog integrity in a world of product sponsorships and collaborations).

3. Community service - as someone who relies on online reviews before deciding to purchase a product, I understand the need of an unbiased opinion. That insight gives me the drive to use my voice and help both consumers and businesses alike. In my own way, I could be of service to the local economy by promoting trustworthy establishments; I can do my peers justice by giving them options. It's a win-win for everyone.

4. Outlet - the reason why I got into blogging in the first place. Writing helps mask my need to build a bigger social network in real life and helps me live my unfulfilled fantasy of being a writer.

I could go on and on but this post is already too long but what I meant to say is, "I'M BACK, PLEASE CONTINUE LOVING AND SUPPORTING THIS HUMBLE BLOG. YOUR LOVELY COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS AND WHATNOTS DRIVE ME TO KEEP PUSHING FORWARD. THAT'S WHAT THE COMMENT BOX IS FOR! HAVE A GOOD ONE, EVERYONE!!"
