A Late Thanksgiving Post.

Ohmygosh! I can't believe it's thanksgiving already. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! (albeit a bit late). Did the turkey roast alright? How's the mini family reunion? I hope you had fun spending your thanksgiving yesterday. Sadly, my country doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving even with all reasons to. But don't you worry about me, there's still lots of fun to be had where I'm from!

Anyway, while we're on the topic, I'm going to celebrate by naming the things I'm thankful for this year.

Top 5 Movies You Dare Not Miss in 2013!

I should upload pics from Abe and my date. It was her payday (she works for my mom) and, as generous as she is, blew it off by feeding her youngerling. While waiting for those and the pics of my mom's wedding, why don't we enjoy ourselves by watching oh-some trailers. Yay, more waiting for us. Great titles these year. There are lots of remakes, remastering, and sequels nowadays. Can you imagine watching something that makes you wait 'til it's available in cinemas earthwide while waiting for me to upload photos? Well, we're about to do just that. Be excited. I found cool trailers trailers this week:

Okay, roll 'em!

1. Iron Man 3 - I could hardly believe they have the trailer already! I'm so excited for the movie. It's got a more serious theme compared to the previous Iron Man movies and I'm guessing definitely more action-packed. And a surprise! (which isn't really that surprising anymore) two Iron Mans! Did somebody say 'Spiderman'? But regardless, I'm excited and definitely waiting for the movie to come out May of 2013.

2. Warm Bodies - Definitely waiting for this! February, why can't you come already?! Deb was actually the one who showed this to me. It has Nicholas Hoult (he played the hot guy who died in the temple of Athena in Clash of the Titans) in it and Number Six from I am Number Four. Anyway, I hated zombies before I saw this but really, I'd pick zombies over vampires any day. Sorry Edwardians!

3. Despicable Me 2 - More minions, and it can only get despicabler this time around.

4. Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters - after H & G finally finishes off the witch that tried to eat them, they go hunting for more. Action packed complete with the cliched, corny lines that trailers are dominated by nowadays. Anyway, hopefully great action scenes, sibling love and witch killing. Expected January 2013.

5. World War Z - After a kazillion of years, Brad Pitt's finally returning to the big screen as this military (or ex-military) dad whose world just got zombiefied (not liking zombie that much, but they seem to be the new vamps/lycans). Everybody's giving off so much hype about it. Maybe for the fact that it's been a while since we last saw Brad Pitt. I hope the hype's worth it though. Releasing on June 2013.

Which Lens Show La Vie En Rose?

I don't like wearing eyeglasses very often, but for laziness' sake, I do. Another factor is that my nursing subjects require me to wear them, instead of my contacts. Part of nothing too fancy, we might intimidate our patients. Which is all bugus, if you ask me. If you want my opinion on the matter, the underlying theme of this is the utopian-dystopian realm of Chicago in Divergent. And they're rearing us to be Abnegations, the uniform, the simplicity, the motto "men and women for others". It all boils down to this. Anywho, I find my glasses annoying during P.E, but they're extremely helpful when I start my late night reading hobby. If they were boyfriends, they wouldn't be as needy as contact lenses. It would be tragic and deadly for me if I accidentally slept with my contacts on. It would be deadly for my eyeglasses if I slept with them on. So really, if we put it that way, I really would much prefer to sleep with my eyes and sight apparatus unharmed. Why sacrifice if there's another way?

Eyeglasses nowadays are being taken in by fashion as accessories, items that decorate rather then enhance the eyes. Although I condemn no one for that, it's easily observable that the point of eyeglasses continually deteriorates. I can say the same thing for contact lenses. Again, there's nothing wrong with that, so long as they aren't unhealthy and damaging to your body.

my old pair of glasses. i loved these before i accidentally sat on them.

Stress Relief

Stress. Every nursing student's problem, every business man's companion and every shrink's money maker. But really, stress isn't that hard to ward off. For me, I daydream about going to the Maroon 5 Concert or even imagine myself winning Pink Concert Tickets. But what I'm really thinking about is where in the world wide web can I find Taylor Swift Tickets?

I Have A Dowry.

No, I don't remember converting to Islam, or some other religion / nation that has a dowry culture. In fact, the dowry was of my own making and will most probably be my own undoing since there's no way to go but forward (and I hate turning back on my words). What do you mean I lost you at "I have a dowry"? Sigh. Okay. Simply put, I put a dowry on my head when I took the oath that I wouldn't be running off marrying someone until I bought my parents a house. What if they want a yacht? Well, they prefer that and and I may need to work my buns off before I can marry (not that it's any time soon). Until then, I'm off the bachelorette list, the market (despite the fact that I've never been on), and bouquet throwing line up. In lieu of this, I would like to remind future me that I should at least think about it before I say "yes" because it's not just "yes, I'll marry you." It's more like "yes, you can have me. all of me. my children. my house. yada yada yada"

Anyway, to those planning to marry, or planning to at least get engaged, THINK TWICE. Haha! Just kidding, Anyway I'm not a love guru so it's not my business to give advices, a simple congratulations then.

And I'm off to posting some pictures of the wedding. These were taken by the mystery camera bearer of Ptr. John's camera & Genesis Rufino. Too bad we had to do the wedding inside, instead of the original Garden Wedding. It was only drizzling, but we couldn't risk it. Will upload more soon (when I get my hands on the official photographer's digitals!)

Moving In and Moving On.

You know what? I don't think I'm the only one in the family who does things in a whim. I was getting home wednesday afternoon, yearning for the comfort of my bed when suddenly. Mushrooms with eyes! Dad says I have no bed in my room anymore because they've transferred it to the other house. Well, I'll tell you what. Monday morning they told me we're moving. I didn't really believe them then. Grave mistake. Now I'm stuck in my slightly smaller but definitely fresher, cleaner and newer room. I was supposed to share turf with Deb but she opted for Abby's company instead. Hmf! Wednesday night I caved in on sorting my stuff and left my pile of clothes to their liberty as I slept. I thought I was going to sleep badly (hint: previous experiences at unused-to hotel rooms) but my body had other plans. And I kept mentally asking the parents, Why on earth are we moving on a weekday?! when I have classes, and church and lots of things to do. Then I figured out why. There's a wedding on Sunday. Whoopsidaisy.

New house pictures: (badly taken using my phone)

my window, just saw you know where to throw rocks at (or serenade *wink wink*)

In A Whim.

If blog readers can kill, you've probably murdered me right now. I have been so very very busy recently. What with all the last week of preparation before the Big Day. For those of you who know absolutely nothing about what I'm talking about, the Big Day's a wedding, where yours truly will be maid of honoring. The fun thing about maid of honoring is that, it's fun (DUH), the fallback is having school while the preparations are going on. Sigh. I was supposed to do lots and lots of things, ghost writing, studying and doing my homework but wasn't able to do so. I should really really prioritize better next time.

But if there's something you need to know about me, I do lots of things in a whim. Not really being sensible about it, but just doing it. I don't mean to (usually, they harm no one) but that's what happens some of the fliptacking times. Like yesterday, I was supposed to be busy with school but managed to take a sneak peek at our newly opened Centrio (Ayalaland) Mall. It was so packed! So when the guard wasn't looking, I entered through the exit! Now, I feel less of a law-abiding citizen. (this is actually my fb post on my friend's wall LOL).

Anyway, I wasn't able to take pictures yesterday, but I went there again today and got you guys these awesome pictures with Explorer Dad and Explorer Deb. Voila!

The not-so-new Healthy Food Plate!

School was fun-to-the-tas-stick! I had Nutrition, it wasn't that great. We had a revisit about the food guide pyramid but I had a feeling it's a wee bit Egyptian 10th century. But for all you non-health-conscious people out there, the food pyramid "is an outline of what to eat each day based on the Dietary Guidelines" (USDA).

To sum, it's all about this:
  •  Top most: the "Thou shalt not eat excess of" Fats, Oils and Sweets - This means chocolate, ice cream and every thing a kid wants.
  •  Go lower, on the left is: Milk, Yogurt, Cheese - two to three servings of this will suffice. I love cheese and the way it's so moldy but still so appetizing. I'm kidding.
  •  Next to the Mlik, Yogurt, Cheese group is the Meat, Poultry, Fish, Dry Beans, Eggs & Nuts group, which is the group of my preference I must say. But I do agree on nutritionists that we can live with 2-3 servings of it per meal oops day.
  •  On the third level is the Vegetable group on the left. Requiring 3-5 servings per day
  •  Still on the third level, the Fruit group is located beside his brother, Veggie. 2-4 servings is recommended per day.
  • Bread, Cereal, Rice and Pasta lays on the base of this pyramid, needing 6-11 servings per day.
But really who needs a pyramid when we could all cram it in one plate? Plates, anyone?
Get an ostensible free in every box!

oh yeah! and come follow my sister's blog too :D ihuskisses she's friendly and will follow back :D

Adieu! Farewell!

...to my old blog layout! Yeah, it just had to go. Don't worry, I'm staying! (or is that bad news for you?) Well, It's not that I didn't like it. I just got bored with it too soon. So here we are. New layout! Yay. If you liked the old layout better, worry not as it may make its appearance later when I start missing it muahahhha. Anyway, what do you think about the new layout? For the new visitors, here's the old one btw.

This weekend, the whole family drove uptown so we can have this simple prenup photoshoot (for the wedding). Of course, my sisters and I took the opportunity to snap a bunch of pictures as we waited for ze mother and ze dad. We even filmed this lunatic video of us running around, chasing and tackling each other to the ground. Abby's yet to make the video public. But I must say, it's one of the best weekends we've had as a family. Here are some pictures that we took!

I feel like a different person. my hair. it's black! anyway, just in case you dont recognize me, I'm the one in pink :D
couldn't keep them to myself xD

Random Rant.

Perhaps I am like Augustus Waters in a way. Because my thoughts are stars I can't fathom into constellations. I was going to write about something but the moment I finished crossing the kitchen, got to my door and turn the doorknob to the side, I held the thought no more... up until I decided to get my notebook and started to jot down random words. I still cant remember the subject of my earlier cognitive spark. It should be important, but I just can't remember. But what I can remember is that I indeed had a cognitive spark.

So instead of dragging the subject further, I'm going to shift to All Hallows Day. In some part of the world, they may be forking virgins and offering them as living sacrifices to who knows what, we (myself, along with the vast population of our country) on the other hand, prefer to visit our dearly departed. While I may not be one of the mob that goes as far as spend the night at the cemetery, it's a tradition that my family keeps and I want to go on keeping. It's not so much as to spend time with the dead, but to spend time with the living, and the dead oddly reminds us that this (all we have right now) can stop anytime, we don't even get to be ready (unless you're informed--like when you have cancer of something). Being there, in the forlorn land of the dead, is consoling only because of the fact that this isn't over yet. That we still have a chance at life. To make everything right and to finally rest in peace. Okay, the fact that we're standing about six feet above our dearly departed can be consoling too... for some people. I don't understand comfort there. To be so physically close, yet so far, disconnected. I'm sorry for writing like this. I need to gather my thoughts but then I know it wouldn't really work. (For more info on the matter, please read what's on the picture above)

Another thing I find ironic is how the wife lits up a cigarette for her dead husband who died of lung cancer. I don't see much sense into that. But I suppose they need to take breather and just remember. Shrug. But jumping to another task at hand, I'm just going to randomly share my sentiments of the books I've been reading this week. I finally finished reading Unearthly. And although I haven't mentioned it before, readers you MUST pretend that I have so we won't get into a lengthy pre-read opinion discussion that I should be able to muster from no where. Well, I must say it was written better than Divergent (although this isn't much of a feat, actually). I haven't read anything about angels in YA books ever. It was improvable. I expected alot from it I guess. But who could blame me? There were some funny parts in the book though, and I'm convinced that it was not the author's intention to have me laughing like crazy at some point. I doubt she planned that scene to be anything but hilarious, but I ROFLed anyway. So did the friends that I shared that part with, who like me, are pretty much Bible-reading Christians. I think I would be reading the second instalment, hoping for more character and concept development. There isn't that much books about angels nowadays, not when majority of paranormal books are about vampires or wolves. Its sad. Makes me want to write my own angel story.

Anyway, first week of school is bearable. Bracing myself for the days to come though. You can never be too relaxed when you're a nursing student.
