My mom is hypertensive. And it's not just her. It's hereditary from both sides of my lineage. I should start getting worried about it affecting me but I don't since I've already cut it off and claimed a healthy body (of course, it would help if I went back to jogging twice a week but my schedule is simply not allowing it). I hate the fact that my generation is getting very sedentary. That is, I suppose one of the consequences technology claims from us. It causes our once lifespan of hundredths (think Methuselah and Noah) to drop to 80 or 70 years. And I know I'm boring you, my generation, out of your wits but my convictions tell me to ignore your distaste at the subject and tell you anyway: we need to go the extra mile (quite literally). I am aware that many of our time's themesong include If I die young or We're gonna die young but really, where's the fun in that? Now, I know we young people like getting things done fast, but does that include life too?
How on earth can we go the extra mile? Well, a single step is the ancestor of many others. In this case, let's start by walking (I'm sure you remember how to do that. You use both your legs, swing your arms to an unsung melody. Ring a bell?) then maybe we can proceed to jogging (LE GASP! this must be your worst nightmare) Well, I thought I would never like jogging, but changed my mind when I found the motivation. Sometimes, we humbledore children of the 21st century just need that push, shove or kick to get us started. Next thing we know, we'll be leading a pack of hungry splinters trying to reach the spare ribs at the finish line.
Well I hope you found this life altering. No? Well, a little thought provoking would be good enough. As Mitch Albom put it:
A desperate heart seduces the mind.
(totally unrelated to this entry but totally rad so I must quote it)
