The Extra Mile

My mom is hypertensive. And it's not just her. It's hereditary from both sides of my lineage. I should start getting worried about it affecting me but I don't since I've already cut it off and claimed a healthy body (of course, it would help if I went back to jogging twice a week but my schedule is simply not allowing it). I hate the fact that my generation is getting very sedentary. That is, I suppose one of the consequences technology claims from us. It causes our once lifespan of hundredths (think Methuselah and Noah) to drop to 80 or 70 years. And I know I'm boring you, my generation, out of your wits but my convictions tell me to ignore your distaste at the subject and tell you anyway: we need to go the extra mile (quite literally). I am aware that many of our time's themesong include If I die young or We're gonna die young but really, where's the fun in that? Now, I know we young people like getting things done fast, but does that include life too?

How on earth can we go the extra mile? Well, a single step is the ancestor of many others. In this case, let's start by walking (I'm sure you remember how to do that. You use both your legs, swing your arms to an unsung melody. Ring a bell?) then maybe we can proceed to jogging (LE GASP! this must be your worst nightmare) Well, I thought I would never like jogging, but changed my mind when I found the motivation. Sometimes, we humbledore children of the 21st century just need that push, shove or kick to get us started. Next thing we know, we'll be leading a pack of hungry splinters trying to reach the spare ribs at the finish line.

Well I hope you found this life altering. No? Well, a little thought provoking would be good enough. As Mitch Albom put it:
A desperate heart seduces the mind.
(totally unrelated to this entry but totally rad so I must quote it)

Reasons to Visit Spain

Why People Fall in Love with Spain

I have always wanted to go to Spain, not only because the guys there are gorgeous like Mario Casas and Enrique Iglesias, but their accent is also very sexy. Hearing Antonio Banderas’ Spanish accent even through a cat in the animated film Puss in Boots can make a girl melt. I will definitely feel like I was in heaven if a hot Spanish guy serenades me in his native tongue. There’s something about Spain that makes people fall in love with it, besides the hunks and bombshells living in that place. Let me give you some reasons why Spain should be included in your list of places to visit:

Fun Games:

I enjoyed playing checkers and dominoes when I was a kid, but things changed when I turned 18. I often get bored of playing those traditional Spanish games so I searched for something that will excite me. I was glad that I discovered poker because this popular table game gave me the thrill that I was looking for. The Spanish people have been playing poker for centuries, but it only started to gain recognition in the country in 2003. That was the time when the internet became accessible to the consumers and online poker was introduced to the internet users. There are many gaming hubs that offer various poker games including www.partypoker.es/. This is one of the most popular poker sites in Spain because of its features and huge cash prizes. Being new to the game, I was able to learn poker easily with the help of Poker Trainer and video tutorials. PartyPoker also allows players to use “play money” instead of real money while practicing. So I was able to play as much as I want without worrying about losing money.

Gastronomy:

All that playing will definitely make anyone hungry, but don’t worry because each region in Spain offers many specialties. This place is perfect for a gastronomic adventure so be prepared to go on a diet after touring Spain. If you are in search for the best paella, then make sure to visit Valencia. Since this popular rice dish originated in that area, you can expect to have a taste of the best paella in one of its restaurants including Casa Roberto. If tapas bar-hopping is your thing, then head to Madrid where you can find numerous restaurants that have tapas bar such as La Camarilla and Casa Lucas.

Festivities:

The people from Spain really know how to party and they do that a lot as seen from its number of festivals. Spain is known for having some of the most colorful and vibrant festivals in the world including the La Tomatina Festival where people throw tomatoes at each other enough to make bowls of soup. Another exciting event is the San Fermin Festival, which features the running of the bulls. Get ready to dance salsa and party for 27 days during the Tenerife Carnivals.

Is Everything Glassy When Wearing Eyeglasses?

I have been sporting glasses for as long as I can remember. Some people think I wear them for fashion purposes. Sure, uhhh.. if I can root out anything fashionable about them. HA. But really, I need them. We're not allowed to wear contact lenses during duty and I'm trying my best not to garner any more extensions so glasses here I am! I've been wearing contact lenses since I was in 6th grade but due to it being to bothersome when I'm late (please refer to post below), I have glasses as a back up plan. But have you wondered how eyes work? Well, wonder no more! I know you're expecting me to explain this to you right now, but since I am but a young nursing student, I don't actually know the cell-level details. I would encourage you to read books and browse the internet (MAKE USE OF THE 21ST CENTURY, PEOPLE!) for the answer, we're not in the brazen oral tradition days, are we?

I hate to see everything end without you having to endure another post with my face in it. So here you go.

A Purpose For Everything

All of my high school life, I've always been expecting to see myself in Nursing school (except during my first and second years, which probably most definitely cut that time frame into two--so half of my highschool life). It was my dream to go to Silliman and work my buns for a BSN. Well, I was young and spontaneous and well, what can I say? Venturesome and impulsive? (though I beg to differ! I actually spent time praying about it!) Anywho, I didn't realize my being tardy seven days a week or being clumsy would be a factor here. I thought that if I was passionate enough, it wouldn't be a problem. While I was attending my aforementioned dream uni, it wasn't that big of a deal since I lived in the campus. It only became a big of a deal when I moved back here in city and boom! A ride going to school takes at least half an hour. That may not be alot of time for you, but considering my track record, that's quite a number. Well, there you go folks! The moment of truth when I found out that I'm not quite cut out to be a nursing student. Wipee.

I've cried, weeped, gnashed my anchovies about it. The thing about habits, is that the longer you've been having it, the harder it is to break. That was the case with my tardiness. I tried hard--modified sleeping patterns, ingested supplements, evaluated and re-evaluated my methods, modified my lifestyle. But it isn't easy. Honestly, I've asked God over and over again why this happens to me, and the queries only end when I realize this isn't even God's fault. Whoo. I earned a slap from myself.

slaps hurt so you'll need to settle for me embarrassing myself

When I was in my junior/senior year of highschool. I got addicted to GaiaOnline. I was RPing, making millions of Gaia gold and thought about it 24/7. Not realizing it, I've created my own idol and gave up alot of things for it, my time, my energy, my studies, my thoughts, my relationship with my family (my mom had to throw a printer over my head to stop me from the internet). It controlled me. I spent nights doing who knows what (because I hardly even remember) till the break of dawn and slept after and went to school at 10am (school starts at 7:30am), late for my third period. Now on my family's defense, they tried to get me out of that addiction. But it wasn't something I can do on my own. Until the summer before my college freshman year, we were challenged at church to break loose from all our bondages and I finally let go of Gaia. I haven't been there since then. Not even to transfer my funds to other players. Boom pow! Thank God I'm over that! YAY Graduation!

if u didn't already know, i'm the conspicuous one with da hair xD

It's been awhile since I slept that late (or early) for the internet. But that doesn't mean I don't get to reap the consequences. Because of the bad habit my body has formed, I find it a challenge to wake up early. Hence, earning the nickname Late-One-Yas.

But my point here is that I thought I had a chronic habit, but slowly, I am being transformed by God into a more reliable person. And I believe He uses Nursing to discipline me. Imagine being late for a minute and having to go on another 8hrs for that minute. It's A MINUTE! It's ridiculous, but I totally had an epiphany during one of my 'mom I wanna quit nursing' talks with my mother. The moment of truth revealed: God is using Nursing to build up what I lost when I gave up my life for Gaia (quite dramatic but true nonetheless).

So this has been quite a long recollection. This is what you get when you attempt to recover Multiple Moments of Truth. I only wish that this affects you, reader, in a positive way and give you a better perspective in whatever giant you're facing.

OH YEAH. PIC FEST!

Duty duty duty.

I'm baaaaack!

Okay for absurdly funny reasons, I haven't been on my blog, my email, even my goodreads for awhile. The first thing I realized is that my music is GONE. NOOOOOO! But I'm working on fixing it so no worries, for all them people who adore my musique. It will make a comeback in about... 102939593 seconds. Now, for the meantime, I might need to update all of you non-interested readers about my life. Well, amazingly so, I am still vying to become a totally awesome nurse. Move out, Nightingale because I am going to take the nursing planet by storm... by being the clumsiest nurse EVER. But aside from that, I got myself understudied because I let a totally awesome opportunity pass for our True Love Waits Concert happening this Feb 22 (watch out for more details). Anyway, I think it's worth mentioning that I cut my hair this year, symbolizing my willingness to opt for a beneficial change as a new dawn appears. So yeah, this is it for now. I will be updating more and more now that my initial problem is fixed. Thank you for all who urged me, forced me and waited on me. You guys inspire me and turn me into a corny slob. Now I have to go take my mother's BP and get my buns to school.

I love you all.

Oh yeah. Picture time.
